2007 Certification Renewal -

It is time again for all CHI Instructors to renew their certifications.  Please download the renewal application from this website (see the "applications" menu item) and send it in.  We would like to receive all renewals by Chinese New Year (February 19th).  Thanks to all our instructors for the tremendous job that they are doing in providing instruction in the Ni Family Movement Arts!

 



Chinese Yoga (Dao-In) Levels Revised - Chinese Yoga (Dao-In) levels have been recently revised and approved by Dr. Mao.  Dao-In is now divided into 3 levels.  Dao-In Level 1 is the new "short form" and is comprised of 20 movements and 7 seated meditation postures.  The short form is comprised of the easiest movements for beginners. 

New Tai Chi Sword Short Form! -

tai chi sword 1.gifThere is now a new Tai Chi Straight Sword Short Form!  This form, approved by Master Maoshing Ni, consists of the first 16 movements of the full (33-Step) form.  Teaching certifications are now being offered for the new short.  So Tai Chi Straight Sword is now comprised of Level 1 (the new 16-step short form) and Level 2 (the full 33-Step long form).

Congratulations to the following people who were awarded teaching certifications at the IWS Annual Retreat in Santa Cruz in September 2006 and have completed the certification process: Urs Bitzi (Switzerland), Phillip Christman (Georgia, USA), Claire Cunneen (New York, USA), Katy Lockwood (New Mexico, USA), Bill Sein (California, USA), Baylen Slote (California, USA), Chuck Theisen (Arizona, USA) and James Foley (Alaska, USA). 8 Little Treasures - New Short Form! -

A new 8 Treasures short form has been recently developed and approved by Dr. Maoshing Ni.  It is called "The 8 Little Treasures."  The full 8 Treasures Qigong form consists of 32 movements divided into 8 sections (treasures).  The 8 Little Treasures is comprised of one movement from each "treasure" of the full form.  So there are a total of 8 simple movements which are easy to learn and practice. 



8LT Teacher Training at 07 New Year's Celebration -

Teacher training in the new 8 Little Treasures (8LT) Qigong Short Form will be offered at the New Year's Celebration at Yo San University in Marina Del Rey.  The workshops offered are as follows: Intro to the 8 Little Treasures (Fri, Feb 16), 8LT Refinement Workshop, Part 1 (Sat, Feb 17), 8LT Refinement Workshop, Part 2 (Sat, Feb 17), 8LT Instructor Training Intensive (Sat, Feb 17), 8LT Practical Exams (Sat, Feb 17).  Master Maoshing Ni will award successful candidates their certifications during Sunday New Year's Celebration (Feb 18).   Please contact us at info@chihealth.org for registration information.



28-Step Harmony Tai Chi Workshop -

On Friday, February 16 an "Introduction to the 28-Step Harmony Tai Chi Form" workshop will be offered at Yo San University in Marina Del Rey.  The 28-Step form is Level 2 (the intermediate form) of the Harmony Tai Chi Style.  This workshop is open to those who already know the 18-Step Harmony Tai Chi Short Form.   The other workshops to be offered over the New Year's weekend (Feb 16-18) will a teacher training series for the 8 Little Treasures Short Qi Gong Form.  Please contact us at info@chihealth.org for price and registration information.



New Certified Instructor - This month, CHI has certified its youngest instructor - Justin Moser.  Justin is a 17 year old, high school student who attends the Oxford Academy in Orange County.  This May, he became a Certified Instructor in 18-Step Harmony Tai Chi.

The Chi Health Institute (CHI) is a non-profit association that is dedicated to promoting health through the Taoist movement arts as transmitted by the Ni Family.  Inspired by the teachings of the Integral Way by Grandmaster Ni Hua Ching, the Institute offers professional level education and certification programs for tai chi, qi gong, and meditation.

Our programs are designed to develop certified instructors to carry forward the rich tradition of the Ni Family movement arts and feature a progressive systematic approach that nurtures understanding, facilitates skill development, and promotes self-growth.
